Formerly employed by the West Mercia Police Force, John is the last full-time crime sketch artist left in Great Britain . He specialises in artist’s impressions of criminals (from witnesses' descriptions), jewellery and antiques. John has developed a system called 'Dial A Sketch' (impressions by fax and phone), and has written and illustrated a book on the identification of stolen jewellery.

John is a member of The Writers Guild of Great Britain and his hobbies include music, painting and poetry. He can work in almost any medium, but has a preference for pastel, oil, and pen and ink.

An exhibitor at the Tate Gallery, Royal Academy and Royal West of England Academy, John has developed a system of weaving faces into the landscapes he paints, and this technique was used in the 1984 entry, ‘Forest Faces’ at the Summertime Exhibition at the Royal Academy. Recently these facial paintings have attracted attention in local newspapers, national magazines and television.

Each artist has also been sent a Certificate.
