Finalist PAWS  2004

Lucy Swinburne

"Lazy Days"
Pastel

I have always been passionate about wildlife, in particular wolves and apes, but have only been painting for the last three years.

I spent the first six months discovering pastels and was overwhelmed by what I could achieve. Encouraged by family and friends I began to undertake animal portrait commissions.

A year later I entered the “Not the Turner Prize” Competition with a Chimpanzee portrait, my first wildlife painting.  Amazingly I was short-listed for the final from 10,000 entries and my painting was exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London alongside the other 400 finalists and winners.

The icing on the cake was then to discover I was a finalist in the PAWS 2003 competition.
