WEATHERSET.EXE Version 1.68 24th July 2000
==============================================

A basic FS weather manipulation program, using
the Advanced Weather interface in FSUIPC (version
1.60 onwards). It works with FS2000, FS2002 and
FS2004 (though for FS2004 the newer WeatherSet2
is far superior).

Freeware by Peter Dowson.

NOTE that this was primarily devised as a test
program for the FSUIPC Advanced Weather interface.
It is not guaranteed to work in all circumstances,
nor will it necessarily be maintained. It is
quite interesting and even useful, however.

All my FS software is always available, in its
latest versions, from:

TO USE:
==================================================

Ensure FSUIPC.DLL version 1.60 or later is placed
into the modules folder of FS2000.

Run FS. When it is up and running, run
WEATHERSET.EXE.

WEATHERSET be used with or without a connection
to FS. When not connected it can be used
to view weather details from existing .WSD or .WX
files, but no changes can be made to them. Changes
to weather details are always done via FSUIPC, so
FS needs to be running for this and WeatherSet
needs to be connected. When connected, WeatherSet
displays what it is reading from FS *not* what
it reads from the file.

WEATHERSET will stay running if FS is
terminated, and will optionally re-connect to
FSUIPC when FS is restarted. See the
FlightSim menu for AutoConnect, Connect and
Disconnect options.

You can run WEATHERSET on a Networked PC, using
you use WideFS version 3.50 or later to link to
FS and FSUIPC. Use WideFS version 3.60 or
later to see the ICAO code of the current Local
Weather in FS (not FS2004).

==================================================
FACILITES
==================================================

WEATHERSET provides the following facilities:

READING weather:

1. Reads all weather data from FS and displays
it in lists for each weather aspect. It reads
Local as well as Global weather, and indicates
which type in its title bar. With FSUIPC 1.60 or
later it also displays the ICAO code of the
   identified Local Weather METAR station.

2. When not connected to FS, it can load and
show weather details from existing "WSD"
(WeatherSet Data) or "WX" (FS2000 weather)
files. (See the File menu). When reading .WX
files, the "global weather" section is initially
shown. If there are any local weather reports in
the WX file, these can be accessed by using the
Page Down/Up keys to scroll through them, or
you can search for a specific reporting station
through the Search menu by specifying an ICAO
   code.

3. Provides facilities to print the details, and
also to save them in "WSD" (WeatherSet Data) or
"WX" (FS2000 weather) files. (See the File
menu). When saving to an existing .WX file, any
existing localised "real weather" included in
the file is retained, but the currently
displayed weather is always saved a 'global'
even if it originated from one of the local
   weather reporting stations.

4. When connected to FS, it provides manual or
automatic (periodic) refresh of displayed data,
with the automatic refresh defaulting. (see
   File menu).

5. Provides a "GetAt" menu to get a single dialogue
display of all the weather details relevant to
   a specific altitude, including interpolated
   temperature detils.

WRITING weather (in FS's Global weather mode):

6. Provides facilities to 'clear' specific weather
aspects individually, or all at once. See the
Clear menu. Note that 'clear' in many cases means
'reset default', as for instance resetting
standard temperature and pressure. The "Clear All"
facility will, with FSUIPC 1.60 or later, normally
clear even local weather (see FSUIPC's
   "AutoClearWeather" facility).

7. Allows saved .WSD and the global weather parts of
.WX files to be reloaded and all elements of the
   weather restored. See File menu.

8. Allows individual layers in any weather section
be be Deleted (use the Delete key) or Modified
(use the Return key). Select the appropriate
entry first, via the layer numbers and either a
Mouse, or Tab between sections then cursor up
and down. note that Altitudes cannot be modified.
You have to delete and insert (see 9.)

9. New layers can be inserted before a selected
layer by pressing the Insert key and filling in
the details. In order to allow layers to be
added at the end of a list, a dummy entry is
   always present at the end.
