Technical Announcement

We have discovered since the release of the R4D-6 Version 4 that a small but significant number of people have been experiencing “Missing Gauges” on the FO panel.

As the programmer of the team I can tell you that I do fully understand what is causing the problem. The advanced programming techniques I have used to produce the unique gauges in the panel uses specific resources within Windows and they are limited. During the programming process I used as many of these resources as possible, but left a few spare for other programs or modules from other developers. My error if you can call it an error is I should have left a few more.

Without going into technicalities the long term solution is, I will redesign a number of the gauges to free up more of these resources to other programs. However this is not going to be a “quick fix” as the programming will take some weeks to complete. Never-the-less, because we at RCS Panels want ALL our customers to be happy, I will do this work and try to complete it as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, shutting down “NON Essential” programs, doing a clean BOOT and disabling some DLL files in the Modules folder will help to solve the problem in the short term. Some of the DLL files that can help solve the problem are listed below.

I would like to thank all the people that returned data to RCS Technical Support. This data was very helpful in confirming the cause of this problem.

Can I also take this opportunity to thank you all for your support, and assure you we are working hard to improve your FS experience.

Temporarily removing the following DLL files might temporarily solve the problem :-

-Asreg01.dll
- Bsatc.dll
- fltrec.dll
- Fsnav.dll
- Jab2000run.dll
- quickgoto.dll
- waiata.dll

There might be others that also help that have not yet been identified.
